There are 3 bedrooms for rent in the Keeper Quarters (second floor) of the lighthouse June-August. ERLPA is asking a $100/room/per night donation. This donation will be applied to your annual membership that accumulates to a Lifetime/Commissioner Level membership. Reservations will open May 15th after contracts and special events are scheduled, and the seasonal dock is tested.
Each bedroom is rudimentary with a small table and chair, two twin bunks outfitted with waterproof mattress (sleeps 4,) and a closet to store your gear. Linens are not provided, so renters should bring their own sleeping bags, pillows, and towels (if desired). Renters are expected to wipe down their mattresses, sweep their floors, and empty garbage before check out.
Common areas like the kitchen, bathrooms, and recreational rooms are shared with other renters and volunteer keepers. Renters are expected to bring their own food and drinking water, and can donate what they don’t use or pack it out. Paper products are provided: (plates, bowls, cups, paper towels, toilet paper).
Transportation to the lighthouse may be reserved on the M/V NW Adventurer, which will bring cruise-ship tourists for a 1.5 hr tour of the lighthouse several times a week. ERLPA has arranged an agreement for them to transport our volunteers and they will offer renters a standing room (on the aft deck) ticket of $50 one-way. Reservation systems are in development. Renters are responsible for their own transportation to the dock in Haines.
Other modes of transportation are chartered boat (includes dock fees and coordinated scheduling,) or chartered helicopter (must coordinate scheduling.) Renters may not check into their rooms or occupy the lighthouse until the tour boat has departed and must be checked out of their rooms prior to the arrival of the tour boat on the day of their check out.
